In 1929, Albert Rieu, an imposing figure in the local wine world and owner of the Ameillaud helped to create the Cairanne Wine Growers Union, set up to protect the interests of the village's grape growers and promote their wines.
Since 1983, an englishman, Nick Thompson has been running the property alongside his wife Sabine, Albert Rieu's grand-daughter. Together, they conjugate their efforts to improve the quality of the Ameillaud wines and develop distribution :
Increased production areas of Syrah and Grenache whilst protecting an average age of the vineyard of 35 to 40 years old.
Moving back to more traditionnal techniques of viticulture and the use essentially of sulpher and copper fongicides treat-ments.
Bottling the vineyard's wines on the property as from the 1980's. It is possible today to find them in many countries around the globe.
Development since 2004 of a tourist activity. Nick and Sabine welcome visitors from around the world to share the calm and comfort of the appartments in the renovated old stables.
